Rose, best known for her role in Bridesmaids, spoke with Hamptons Magazine about the 2011 blockbuster.

'I knew it was a unique experience because there were so many women,'  she said. 'I was with women every day, and they were the best days ever. At the time we had no idea it would become what it did—I think it took everyone by surprise.

'I was very naïve, and I didn't know it would be a controversy and a whole narrative of, "Wow, women can be funny!" It was a double standard. It never occurred to me that a successful female-driven comedy would be an exceptional thing.'

The Neighbors actress also spoke briefly on the #MeToo movement.

'It's definitely got a long way to go, and there are still things that need to change, but it's so firmly in people's consciousness now,' Byrne said. 'I don't think there's any looking back, and that's exciting.

'It's all about pushing forward and keeping the momentum up and these changes evolving and happening. But the studio heads and executives are the ones who have the power to write the checks to get things made and make the changes. I hope they're being held accountable and following through.'
